Region
McLaren Vale is one of the most geologically diverse wine regions in the world, with more than 40 different geologies present across the region. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterised by dominant winter rainfall, low humidity, warm summers, and the moderating influence of the nearby Gulf St Vincent. Vintage 2017 was a late and wet year in McLaren Vale. Following a wet winter, spring and summer were hot with late budburst. The vines ripened through February, with harvest beginning in March. Large canopies were maintained with average yields. Above-average winter rainfall resulted in elegant, refined, and delicate fruit.

Wine
The wine was fermented in traditional open fermenters and, after pressing, completed fermentation in oak barrels—approximately 80% French oak and the remainder American, with 35% new oak. Vineyard parcels were kept separate during fermentation and maturation, then blended three months prior to bottling. Generosity defines this McLaren Vale Shiraz, with rich, ripe red fruit flavours of raspberry and cherry complemented by aromas of black pepper and spice. Velvety in texture, this is a wine made to bring people together for any occasion.
