If you didn’t know, their dear friend & Co-Founder, Red, has announced he’ll be pulling up stumps and that this week is his last. It goes without saying this bloke means the world to us, and they had wager, if you’re a fan of good beer, you’ll know just how significant his impact on the industry has been – as MC so eloquently puts here. His ‘swansong’ Antipodean Pilsner showcases a love for traditional brews. In this case, that’s a Czech-style pils with ties to NZ - the place he now calls home. They brewed it on the old Hindmarsh kit, which kinda makes sense, given that was his office and playground for so many years. It’s full of ‘Redisms’, including a double decoction mash technique, which imparts some wonderful malt characters. You’ll also get floral notes from the Motueka hops, and some choice esters from the Budejovice Lager Yeast. And that’s that.
