Hairyman Follet's Fables Pacific Lager

In July 1791, while exploring the Hawkesbury River system, Matthew Follet’s small boat became separated from his companions. After days of frantic searching, they finally found him far downstream on a riverbank — bedraggled, red-eyed, and with a shocking story to tell. He claimed he had been passing through a wild, narrow gorge when a monstrous “Hairyman” descended upon him, forcing his boat against the rocks. Follet said he had fought the brute off, but with the vessel fatally holed, he was left with only one option. Two barrels — lashed together and emptied of their contents (the expedition’s ration of cool, clear, satisfying Pacific Lager) — became a crude but effective raft, allowing him to escape. Given all that Follet had endured, it was decided that the expedition should be cut short.
