Brewdog Abstrakt 23

Our latest Abstrakt release is an American barley wine that has spent almost two years resting in bourbon whiskey casks in our Ellon barrel store. During this time, the beer has undergone an incredible transformation, with first-fill oak magnifying and rounding out an already rich flavour profile.

The malt bill—pale, Munich, Cara, crystal, and brown malts—provides a deep, caramel-like backbone for the wood to interact with. AB:23 is a monument to the effects of time and the interplay between an American malt base and the craftsmanship of American distillers.

Bourbon ageing elevates this barley wine to 11.5% ABV, delivering rich notes of candied orange, fruit cake, cranberry, and sherry, all wrapped in a toffee-like finish with warming alcohol. Like all Abstrakt releases, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years to continue evolving—the choice is yours.
